The completely redeveloped ninth generation of the Passat is now available to order in the first European countries.
The model impresses with a new aerodynamic design, high quality and new efficiency drives. Deliveries of the new Passat, which will be offered exclusively as a spacious Variant, will begin in the first quarter of 2024. With more than 34 million units sold to date, the Passat is one of the Volkswagen
brand's bestsellers.
The new PASSAT
New VW twin-top model in the mid-size class: with the Passat and the all-electric ID.7, Volkswagen will have two ultra-modern model series in the high-volume mid-size class in the future. The new Passat covers the entire spectrum of petrol (TSI), diesel (TDI), mild hybrid (eTSI) and
plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) drive systems. With an electric range of up to 100 km and a DC fast-charging function, the optimized eHybrid models will build a bridge to e-mobility - designed for all drivers who want to drive electrically on short and medium distances, but want to cover long distances without
stopping to charge.
Largest Passat of all time: Thanks to its spaciousness, the new VW leaves the usual class boundaries behind: the 50 mm longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor benefits legroom in the rear in particular. With its trunk capacity of up to 1,920 liters (previously 1,780 liters), which has
also been significantly increased, the new Passat is the perfect all-rounder for business and leisure.
Next-generation interior: Volkswagen has completely redesigned the high-quality interior. The clearly structured and large display landscape with a 32 cm (12.9 inch) display as standard is a defining feature; a 38 cm (15 inch) display is available as an option.
Basic equipment with a strong standard specification: The new Passat can be configured in the four equipment versions "Passat", "Business", "Elegance" and "R-Line"; they have all been significantly upgraded compared to the predecessor. Even the basic "Passat" trim has features such as the
new MIB4 displays, the Car2X warning system, App Connect (wireless Apple and Android integration), automatic climate control, USB-C ports with 45 watt charging power at the front, black roof rails, LED headlights, LED tail lights and numerous assistance systems on board.
The standard systems include:
- "ACC" (automatic distance control)
- "Side Assist (lane change assistant)
- "Front Assist (environment monitoring system)
- "Lane Assist (lane keeping assistant)
- Turn Assist
- Parking and reversing aid
- (acoustic and visual warning signals, front and rear)
- "Rear View (reversing camera)
- Traffic sign recognition
"Business" equipment for frequent drivers: As the Passat is one of the most successful business cars in Europe, Volkswagen also offers the optional "Business" equipment line in the new generation. From the outside, this model can be recognized by the chrome trim on the side
windows, silver anodized roof rails and chrome elements at the front and rear. In Germany, the "Business" model also has dark privacy glazing in the rear windows. Systems such as "Light Assist" (automatic headlight control), "Park Assist" (assisted parking) and "Travel Assist" (semi-automated
driving) are also included as standard. Also standard in Germany: the new IDA voice assistant, which can be used to control functions such as navigation or ask general knowledge questions.
"Elegance" and "R-Line" as top versions: Volkswagen has positioned the "Elegance" and "R-Line" versions above the "Business" equipment line. Depending on taste, the Passat can be equipped even more elegantly ("Elegance") or more dynamically ("R-Line").
